Dave Frauenfelder is the Vice President of Brand, Marketing Communications & Sponsorships at KPN, the leading telecommunications company in the Netherlands. Known for his creative-driven leadership, Dave has been a central force in redefining the company’s brand strategy—focusing on long-term brand growth, emotional relevance, and societal impact. His leadership helped position KPN not just as a network provider, but as a brand with purpose. 

At the heart of this transformation lies the campaign ‘A Piece of Me’, the first major initiative under KPN’s #BetterInternet strategy. Tackling online shaming and sexting—topics rarely addressed by brands, let alone telcos—the campaign turned into a cultural movement. It sparked national debate, changed behavior, helped influence legislation, and became the second most awarded campaign for effectiveness worldwide (WARC 2024) – including a Gold Euro EFFIE and the Grand Euro EFFIE. 

In May 2025, Dave was awarded with the prestigious CMO Pencil at The One Show for Creativity in New York. Chosen by a jury of leading brand-side marketers, the award honours the world’s most impactful marketing that elevated the brand and delivered positive results to the bottom line. The CMO Pencil recognises the key marketer behind award-worthy work that prioritised exceptional creativity, rewarding the confidence and bravery of an individual who champions a creative concept from ideation to reality, and ultimately to succes
