Emma O’Doherty

Emma has worked in the Irish media industry for 30 years, with over two decades in media planning and client relationship management, on a range of advertisers across Government, Finance, Charity, Alcohol, FMCG, Utilities, and Telecoms. She has not only worked on some of the largest brands in the world – Heineken, Gillette, Sky, Nestlé, and Danone; but on many Irish brands including the national tourist board – Failte Ireland, telecoms brands eir and 3, and insurance giant Vhi Healthcare. As a media planner Emma’s work won gold at IAPI’s ADFX and the Irish Media Awards. Emma served as Mindshare Ireland’s Managing Director from 2011-2017; and in her current role oversees the planning and client leadership functions of the WPP Media agencies in Ireland (EssenceMediacom, Mindshare, and Wavemaker).
In 2013 she was elected to the board of the Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland (IAPI) and served as Media Chair until 2018. She has participated in industry committees and advisory panels, as well as being a speaker or panel member at various events. In 2024 she was a member of the Effies Ireland Round 1 jury and has participated in judging for the Irish Media Awards and Outdoor Media Awards, as well as being part of client selection panels both on media and creative project pitches.
Emma is currently on the board of The Advertising Benevolent Society (TABS), the Irish industry’s wellbeing charity, helping to raise funds and actively support those in our industry that need it.
